Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard's career began in 1999 when she was offered a position at the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot halibut vessel was converted into a tender for salmon by Murat Ariatn. He has been fishing commercially for the past twenty years. Bossard, who is the wife of Aritan and has joined their forces in order to claim their industries. They believe in conservative, sustainable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia after Bossard was able to return from in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre one, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. Her husband has a long experience in the industry of fish, which often keeps them separated from each other for a period of five or more months. That's when they are focusing on their financial and environment goals. Bossard with her son Andre 10 and Isabella 12 each year return to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. After two months of fishing using hooks, lines as well as a 42-foot salmon troller they have joined Aritan and then sold local processors of seafood.
